Diesel Hires A Finn As Their Head Designer! at My Lucky 9
Around 10 years ago I went through a phase where everything I wore was from Diesel (it lasted maybe 4 years). I was completely obsessed with Diesel and my everyday outfit was Diesel jeans, Diesel t-shirt, Diesel jacket, Diesel bag and Diesel shoes. My wardrobe was filled with nothing but Diesel. Right now I must admit that I own only 2 pairs of Diesel shoes and some Diesel jackets. Otherwise my old Diesel wardrobe is gone. I don’t think I even have a pair of Diesel jeans anymore!?!
Even though my style has developed into a different direction from my Diesel-obsession, I still love Diesel, and visit their store on and off. I just somehow lost touch with this brand, and started to find fewer and fewer items in their collections that I found appealing. This might change in the future, since it was just announced that Diesel Female has hired Finnish Heikki Salonen, as their head designer . YAY! Salonen is going to relaunch the high street label’s women’s wear, with forthcoming collections to be “stripped back to a softer and more feminine aesthetic”. Salonen’s first offering for the brand will be unveiled for spring/summer 2012. Salonen trained at the Royal College of Art and worked with British-Canadian designer Erdem before launching his own label Fashion East , which is known for its grungy, masculine take on women’s wear.
